(Mr. Matthew Connelly 'phoned him that the President
wanted to see.)
12:00 pm Honorable Vincent J. Murphy, Mayor of the City of Newark
(Wrote Mr. Matthew Connelly that the City of Newark, N. J.
finds itself with a problem on its hands in form
of large tract of land in the Port of Newark, owned
by the city and still in possession of the Army;
stated that from information available to their city
officials, Newark one of the few cities along
Atlantic coast where Army still is in possession
of such a large tract of land. Mr. Matthew Connelly spoke first
to Gael Sullivan about this request. Sullivan accordingly
phoned Mayor Murphy and then asked that Mr. Matthew Connelly
grant their request for an appointment with the
President.)
