George
Washington's America
Electronic Learning Activity
Introduction:
The America where George Washington lived looked much different
from the America you live in today. The king of England, George
III, ruled the 13 colonies from his country across the Atlantic
Ocean. George Washington lived in one of the king's colonies - Virginia.
When the American colonies decided to fight for their independence
from England, all of the colonies joined together to fight the king's
army. George Washington was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the
colonial army.
