a. How many people visit the Library on average each year?

The Truman Library and Museum has approximately 130,000 visitors annually.

b. When did the Library open?

The Harry S. Truman Library was dedicated and formally presented to the government of the United States on July 6, 1957.

c. What was the cost of building the Museum and Library?

The cost of building the Harry S. Truman Library was $1,750,000. An addition in 1968 cost $310,000, while a 1980 renovation cost $2,800,000. A complete museum renovation started in 2000 cost $22,500,000.

d. Was it built by donations or federal funds?

The $1,750,000 cost to build the Harry S. Truman Library was raised entirely by private donations. The federal government, after accepting the building, pays to maintain and operate the building facilities.

The Harry S. Truman Library and Museum is one of thirteen Presidential Libraries administered by the National Archives and Records Administration.
