VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE OF POSITION: Public Programs Audiovisual Assistant

PURPOSE OF JOB: To provide an enjoyable experience for visitors attending public programs and presentations by providing quality audiovisual support.

Donna Denslow, Coordinator of Volunteer and Intern Services
Edeen Martin, Public Programs Officer
Scott Roley, Deputy Director

ASSIST OR BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

1. The set up, operation, and 'take down' of all needed audiovisual equipment for Truman Library programs.
2. Coordinating with the guest speaker or their representative to implement A/V setup already arranged by Truman Library staff.
3. Insuring audiovisual equipment is operational at least one hour prior to show time.
4. Shooting 35mm photos.
5. The following components located on the stage in the Missouri Auditorium:
· Proper disconnection and removal of stage speakers from the stage, replace and reconnect speakers after the presentation.
· Set up and connect lectern with both power and microphone.
· Preset and operate house lights, stage lights and footlights.
· Adjust audio levels and operate audio sources. (i.e., DVD/CD Player, audio cassette player, etc.)
· Operate video sources. (i.e., DVD player, video cassette player, etc.)
· Operate projection equipment. (i.e., video projectors, 35mm slide projectors, etc.)

COMMITMENT REQUIRED:

A minimum commitment of two events a month for a year is required. Each event usually requires at least a 3 to 4-hour time commitment. Events are held throughout the week which includes weekends and evenings, and possible holidays.

Must be age 21 or older
High School diploma
Mature, self-starter
Reliable, responsible
Able to work independently
Able to accept supervision
Flexible
Some Audiovisual experience helpful

TRAINING/ORIENTATION PROVIDED:

Basic reading material on Harry S. Truman and exhibit material.
View the Guggenheim film
Attend two museum tours with docents.
Before being personally assigned to an event, volunteer will attend 1-2 events to observe
Media Operations Coordinator set-up, operate, and 'take down' A/V equipment.
Orientation and safety briefing with Media Operations Coordinator on the facility and
equipment.
