The President had many off-the-record meetings, beginning at 11:45 a.m. At 11:45, he met with the Ambassador of Peru. At 12:15 p.m., he met with the Warren family. At 1:00, he had his usual lunch.

At 3:50, he met with Mr. Bryce Smith. At 4:00, he met with Mr. William Burke of Massechusetes. At 4:10 p.m., he met with members of the Chicago Police Department.

At 6:30, the President left for the Truman-Barkely Dinner. At 9:02, the President spoke in the Main Ballroom of the Mayflower Hotel in Washington. His speech was televised. In the speech, he talked about how glad he was to have Alben Barkley as his Vice-President.
