
The Presidents day was very busy. At 10:00 a.m., he met with Mr. Neal Helm, Mr. Roy Harper, and Judge Rowland. He had other meetings with other people from 10:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
At 11:00 a.m., the President met with a lot of people from Independence, Mo. They presented him with a Bible that he will take the oath of office on. The Bible will then be taken back to Independence.
He had to other meetings before he went to the Mayflower Hotel for a luncheon. The luncheon was given by the Financial Committee of Democratic National Committee. At the luncheon, the President spoke with those in attendance. He made the following comments. "I have always been an optimist. I have always believed that right would prevail. I have always labored under the idea that if the people of the country understood clearly what the issues were in this campaign, they would only vote one way."
At 3:45, the president and Miss. Truman left the Blair House for a tea given by Mr. and Mrs. Iango. After the tea they attended a reception at the Shoreham Hotel given by Governor Smith. At 6:45, the family attended the Electors dinner at the Mayflower Hotel. The president made a speech at 8:25 he discussed his feelings on election day and thanked everyone at the dinner for their support. At 8:45, they attended Gala Concert put on by the Inaugural Committee. It was held by the National Guard Armory.
