On this day the President replied to the Dewey charge, that he was vacillating on whether the Negev belonged to Israel or the Arabs, and issued a statement which favored the position that Isreal's boundaries should include the Negev area. Clifford drafted the document of the 24th which in turn strengthened the President's position among Jewish voters.
