Truman sent a telegram to His Excellency, Dr. Chaim Weizmann, President of the Provisional Council of State, Tel Aviv.

On this your first New Year's Eve as President of the Provisional Council of the State of Israel I send you warm personal greetings and congratulations. May the New Year bring peace to Israel and to its citizens the opportunity to dedicate themselves in tranquility to furthering the prosperity of their country.

Truman arrived at Union Station from his Western Campaign Trip. He is greeted by D.C. commissioners, members of his Cabinet, officials and workers of the Democratic committee and the Truman-Barkley Club of DC. Parade and bands accompanied his car to the South Entrance of the White House.
