Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum

November 10, 1948

A number of men in the President's party had a "deep sea fishing derby." The groups that left early this morning reported in regularly to report their luck or lack thereof.

The President and a number of others again returned to the beach for several hours this morning. After lunch the President toured the Naval Station. He stopped at the swimming pool and was teased by newspaper reports and photographers about his three-day growth of beard. Later in the afternoon he tried to watch a baseball game between Secret Service agents and newspapermen, but he had arrived too late to see any of the game.

After dinner the President and others watched some special election newsreels. Following the newsreels another film was shown, "Meet Mr. Frankenstein" starring Abbott and Costello, but once again the President returned to his quarters instead of staying for the feature film.
