Today, President Truman woke up and left for the National Airport and met the Secretary of State. After his meeting with the Secretary of State, he met with the Secretary of the Treasury and the Secretary of Defense, Mr. Aubrey Mellinger and Mr. Russell Hopley. Mr. Mellinger was appointed to fill Mr. Hopley's position of Director of Civilian Defense Planning. He also met with Mr. Geoffrey Parsons Jr. who was the editor of the New York Times.

After the meeting Mr. Parsons, he had an appointment with the Secretary of State, as he usually did, every other week. He attended a luncheon with the Secretaries, Mr. Brannan and Mr. Tobin were absent. At the end his busy day, he had a staff meeting.
