Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum

September 14, 1948

Truman wrote in his diary about posing for a portrait which, from his remarks, was not a favorite activity!

"Another hell of a day. I'm sitting for an old Polish painter, and I don't like to pose----but it's also a part of the trial of being President. He's painted a nice stuffed shirt picture. This is about No. 7 or No. 8. Hope it's the last."

"Had the gang in at 6:00 P.M. and worked on farm speech for Des Moines. Papers gave science speech good coverages. Hope it does some good."

The Harry S. Truman Library and Museum is one of thirteen Presidential Libraries administered by the National Archives and Records Administration.
