Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum

September 17, 1948

Read a letter written by Truman in response to a Telegram on the Problems of Scientists in Government Service. This also refers back to Truman's speech on September 13. Truman is most concerned that "atomic energy be kept out of partisan politics, to preserve it as a trust for the American people."

Truman was also Whistle Stopping through Pennsylvania and Ohio. Read his remarks in Pittsburgh, from the Freedom Train at 6:25 p.m.
