During yet another monotonous flight to Berlin, the radio operator aboard a C-54 describes inteference he's receiving as the engineer (seated behind the pilots) wonders aloud about a light outside the rifht window.

The pilots were the key players in this yearlong endeavor to keep the people of West Berlin from starvation. This humanitarian effort was a rewarding experience and a nice change from using their skills in a war environment. This was the first official campaign of the newly formed separate branch of the services---the United States Air Force.
