Veterans Day Salute to Captain Harry and the Battery D Doughboys

Harry S. Truman and other officers of Battery D., ca. 1918

In celebration of Harry Truman's 125th birthday, the Truman Library Institute will honor Veterans Day 2009 by reviving a tradition that Truman treasured: The Battery D Reunion. For the first time ever, the Truman Library will bring together Battery D descendants, leading Truman historians, and WWI authorities to reflect on the living legacy of "Captain Harry." This special Truman125 event will include a provocative program and panel discussion, staged dramatizations of personal letters from the trenches, and a private reception for surviving descendants of Battery D.
