Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum

President and Mrs. Truman used the White House state dinner service originally purchased by President Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1945 to 1951. In 1951, the Trumans selected a new set of china that would be more appropriate in the newly decorated state dining room.

The crystal, flatware and glassware used during the Truman administration was the original White House pattern. The glassware was originally used by the Roosevelts in 1937 and is from the Tiffen Glass Company of Tiffen, Ohio. Dinner Service
