FEATURED CLASS FOR NOVEMBER 16--DECEMBER 1:

CEDAR CREEK ELEMENTARY IN LEE'S SUMMIT, MISSOURI
MRS.HURLEY'S FOURTH GRADE CLASS

Mrs. Hurley's fourth grade class at Cedar Creek Elementary in Lee's Summit Missouri have had a busy and exciting year so far. The school's theme for the year is "Exploring our Changing World", and the fourth graders have been focusing on changes in our home state. The group just completed a simulated journey to Oregon on a wagon train, complete with many of the fates faced by the original pioneers. Students also completed projects to demonstrate and share what they learned. The class is currently studying the physical feature and geographic boundaries of our state and how they have changed over time.

The class has read Sarah Plain and Tall, Skylark, and On To Oregon during our study of Westward Expansion. They recently finished Night of the Twisters and are now reading The War With Grandpa.

In science the class has explored the areas of soil and erosion, and rocks, minerals, and fossils. Soon, they will move on to a study of the human body.
