Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum

FEATURED CLASS FOR DECEMBER 14--DECEMBER 27:

Mrs. Montee's 8th Grade Stretch Students
Mrs. Connie Cox, Stretch Program
Georgeff-Baker Middle School Campus
Blue Springs, Missouri

Our research project highlights events in the Truman Administration from december 14 to 21, 1948. We researched these events through the internet and also the resources available to us at the school and public library in our community of Blue Springs. Some of our best sources were the old time magazines and old Independence Examiners.

The students involved in this project are the students that attend a special program called Stretch. This program goes beyond the basics and offers a variety of challenges in all areas of life. Strecth 8 is for the gifted and talented eighth grade student.

All of Mrs. Montee's 8th grade students started the year off exploring the Truman Footlocker, which was followed by a special project. Each student created and then presented their own personal footlocker to their peers. It was truly a very successful event and all of the students became aware of how important firsthand reporting and the availability of primary sources contribute to the accurate recording of history.

Thank you for visiting with us on the internet.
