Automobile

The Model T version of the automobile was invented by Henry Ford in 1894, just 10 years after Harry's birth. The Model T could produce a top speed of 45 mph and it got 20 miles to the gallon of gas. Truman's first car was a 1911 Stratford. He used this to drive from Grandview to Independence to court Bess Wallace. President Truman was probably glad that his Limosine and Chrylser went faster and got more gas mileage than the Model T or his first car! Both of these cars are currently on display at the Harry S. Truman Library in Independence, MO!!
