WhistleStop Campaign 1948
       Southem-Pacific Train Depot, Sacramento, CA

Mr. Paul Plesha wrote us that he joined the crowd in 1948 waiting outside the train to see and hear the President. He noticed several cameramen getting ready to board the train. They were from the local newspapers and had "Press Cards" in their bands of their hat. He took a piece of paper and put in the band of his hat and fell in line behind the two reporters. As he passed by the security at the entrance of the train, he saw President Truman. He raised his camera, and at about the same time he was lifted off his feet and carried off the train!!! That was a special moment for him.

He has great memories of Saturday aftemoon at the movies, $.05 for a hot dog with chili beans, and a $.05 for the Street Car ride home.
