Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum

Independence High School

Harry Truman and his classmates were the second class to graduate from the new Independence High School. The new high school was on Pleasant Street, on the same site as current-day Palmer building, which is directly behind the Wallace/Gates/Truman home.

The high school had a library, an art studio, an auditorium, a chemistry laboratory, classrooms, beautiful stained-glass windows, and hardwood floors.
