Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum

First Presbyterian Church

After the Truman family moved to Independence in 1890, a Presbyterian minister saw the three little Truman children playing in their yard and invited them to Sunday School.

It was at this church that Harry met Bess, "... a very beautiful little lady with lovely blue eyes and the prettiest golden curls I've ever seen."
