11:30 am Mr. Albert Goss, Master of the National Grange
Mr. Kenzie S. Bagshaw, of Pa., Member of Grange
Mr. Herschel Newson, of Ind. Member of Grange
Mr. Lee Pritchard, of Colo., Member of Grange
(Mr.Goss phoned Mr. Matthew Connelly to ask that he and
these members of the National Grange be given an
appointment with the President to invite him to
address a meeting of the Grange in November.)

(Newly appointed, to present credentials)

(Wired Mr. Charles Ross he was coming down to appear at
a Senate Hearing, had nothing to bother the President
about, but that if the President would care to have
him come in, he was available)
12:30 pm (Mr. Lester Markel, Sunday Editor of the New York Times)
(Asked early in month for this appointment, as he
expected to be in Washington at this time)
12:45 pm (Mr. Dick Finnegan of Chicago Times)
(Saw the President yesterday with Newspaper Editors,
but Russ Stewart wrote the President Mr. Finnegan
would appreciate seeing him alone, if it could be
arranged.) (Came to see Mr. Matthew Connelly)

2:40 pm (Left for the Opening Baseball Game)
3:00 pm Opening Baseball Game
7:00 pm The President and Mrs. Truman attended Dinner for
the Missouri Congressional Delegation given by
Mr. and Mrs. Claude Houchins at the Columbia
Country Club.
