0:00   Harry S. Truman, reading his narration, recalls his happy years in the Senate, stating he never expected that position to lead him to the Presidency of the United States. "A man must be ready to face whatever happens." He discusses responsibilities he had to face upon Franklin D. Roosevelt's death as he became President "during the most destructive war of all time." He discusses bringing the war to a victorious end, then trying to maintain the peace by dealing with problems of Russian and Chinese Communism after the war.
1:05   Mr. Truman says: "I want the people to know the Presidency as I have experienced it, and I want them to know me as I am."
