Shot List

Reel 1

0:00   Unidentified voice: “Cameras A and B, Scene 1509” Harry S. Truman speaks: There are bigots in every community; their objective is to obtain their ends by direct means. They do not understand representative government. Bigots can cause trouble – newspapers give them attention. Bigots have little effect on people; our government represents every section of our country.
2:15   Mr. Truman makes a reference to an incident at the fair, where people were stopped from getting in.
2:35   Comments on facing the Ku Klux Klan.
2:58   Question from Ben Gradus (?): “Tell us if you have faith in the bulk of the American people to grant equality?”
3:23   Most American people want to do the right thing by the whole population. “Cut.” This was probably used in preparation for MP81-4, “Man from Missouri.”
