Stephen Brod was born in Borovany, Czechoslovakia on December 10, 1889 and died in Lee's Summit, Missouri on September 30, 1983. He was a veteran of World War I and was married to Isabel (Smith) Brod. He worked as a tailor and made numerous suits for President Harry S. Truman until he retired.

This collection includes letters received by Stephen Brod from Harry S. Truman, newspaper articles, and other documents in reference to his position as a tailor for President Truman. The majority of the documents involve the purchase of suits which were made by Mr. Brod for President Truman.
