ORGANIZATIONAL NOTE

The Churchill Archives Centre at Churchill College, Cambridge, England, is the repository of the papers of Sir Winston Churchill.

In 2004, the Churchill Archives Centre gave the Truman Library copies of twelve pieces of correspondence from the Churchill Papers, consisting of letters and telegrams to Churchill from Harry S. Truman and Bess W. Truman.

COLLECTION DESCRIPTION

This collection is made up of copies of correspondence from Harry S. Truman and Bess W. Truman to Winston Churchill, dating from 1945 to 1954. The collection includes handwritten letters as well as telegrams.

The correspondence is of a personal nature and covers topics ranging from congratulations on the victory in World War II to gifts and photos exchanged between the Trumans and Winston Churchill.

This material was originally opened for research as part of the Miscellaneous Historical Documents Collection (MHDC 902).
