The Edward C. Gillette Papers include correspondence, legal documents, and memorabilia relating to two U.S. Presidents, Harry S. Truman and Ronald Reagan. Items signed by Truman as Jackson County Judge, U.S. Senator, and President make up much of the collection. These items include a check for $10 that Truman made out to the Kansas City School of Law, where he briefly attended law classes in 1924-1925, and letters from Truman to friends and well-wishers.

The collection also contains printed materials, photographs and artifacts relating to Truman, including a gavel from the Presidential yacht, the Williamsburg, and playing cards from the Presidential aircraft, the Independence. Also included is a copy of Ronald Reagan's letter to the American people announcing his diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease in 1994.
