COLLECTION DESCRIPTION

The papers of Neil Brooks consist of legal notebooks, handwritten notes, memorabilia, newspaper clippings, photographs, printed material, lecture notes, and other documents mostly relating to Brooks’s work as an attorney in the Department of Agriculture.

Included among the materials in this collection are lectures and handwritten notes by Brooks pertaining to his work as a lawyer and law school instructor.

Much of the collection is made up of legal notebooks that were compiled and used by Brooks in the Agriculture Department. These consist of court cases, citations, and judicial opinions relating to statutory interpretation and legal precedent.

Other materials in this collection include newspaper clippings, bulletins, and journal articles which were authored or co-authored by Brooks. The articles deal with legal issues involving agriculture.

Related collections at the Truman Library include the papers of Secretary of Agriculture Clinton Anderson and his successor as Secretary, Charles Brannan.
