COLLECTION DESCRIPTION

The Papers of J. C. Truman mainly consist of correspondence, photographs, printed materials, and memorabilia concerning his relationship with his uncle, Harry S. Truman, and his aunt, Bess Truman. There is no information in the collection relating to J. C. Truman's professional career as a teacher and government official.

The correspondence in the collection includes letters of thanks from Harry and Bess Truman for birthday and Christmas cards and gifts.

The photographs depict President Truman at the 1945 Berlin Conference, and on other occasions during his administration. There are also photographs of other members of the Truman family.

The printed materials include programs and other items relating to President Truman's 1949 Inauguration and President Lyndon Johnson's 1965 Inauguration, magazine articles, and a booklet on Jackson County that was published while Harry S. Truman was Presiding Judge of the Jackson County Court.

In the Harry S. Truman Papers, the Papers pertaining to Family, Business and Personal Affairs include financial records of Harry S. Truman that were donated to the Truman Library by J. C. Truman.
