COLLECTION DESCRIPTION

The papers of E. M. Stayton include speeches and a report concerning Stayton’s work as an engineer in the fields of railroad location and construction, and his role in developing the Jackson County Highway System.

The collection includes a report by Stayton and his collaborator, N. T. Veatch, to Harry S. Truman and the other members of the Jackson County Court on the need for new road construction in the county, as well as several speeches by Stayton on engineering issues.

This collection was previously open for research as part of the Miscellaneous Historical Documents Collection (MHDC 318).
