Truman's Hobbies

November 21, 1950

Dear Miss Schaller:

Your letter of November ninth, addressed to the President, has been received and I am writing in response to your request for information as to what the President does for entertainment and recreation.

The President has no hobbies and his official duties leave him little time for recreation. Most of his activities are reported in the daily newspapers where, no doubt, you have read of them.

The President likes walking and swimming, when opportunity permits. He enjoys good music and plays the piano for his own relaxation. Occasionally he attends a concert. He also reads a great deal, especially historical and biographical books.

      Sincerely yours,

Miss Sarah Mary Schaller, 441 East Ind. Avenue, Perrysburg, Ohio.
